The Biography of Judy Garland

  • Judy Garland was born as Frances Ethel Gumm, to Ethel and Frank Gumm, on June 10 1922. Born in a medium sized white house in Grand Rapids MN. While Frank Owned and Worked at the New Grand Theater during the day, Ethel took care of Frances and her two older sisters.( Mary Jane And Dorothy Virginia) The New Grand, was the little start for Judy. While her two older sisters were on the stage performing songs and dances, Frances went on stage and started singing Twinkle Twinkle Litlle Star, and refused to get off when her father Frank yelled at her to get down from the off edge of the stage, the audience loved it. Frank finally walked up onto the stage and picked up Frances and Walked her off while she was still singing in his arms. She was only two and one half years old. After this she was known as the little girl with a big voice by the audiences, and Baby Gumm by her family and family friends. Frances two older sisters went to the Old Centeral School, while Frances never did but was in some of the school plays. (Half of the Second Story is dedacated to her in memory also, it is a museum all about her is even used to have the real pairs of rubby slipper and the real dress from the Wizard Of Oz, But they still have lots of her other dresses from other movies and other parties.) She was only four years old when her and her family moved to Lancaster, California. (1926) There they started to more stuff on the stages and also on the radio. (On the way from Grand Rapids to Lancaster, they stopped at Theaters in a lot of other cities to perform and get their names known country wide.) While in Lancaster a family friend suggest that they cange their last name to more of a stage name. He thougth of Garland. Frances thought the same with her name, so she came up with Judy. At the age of 13, Judy tries out for a spot on the MGM crew. After Louis B. Mayer had heard her sing and the stuff she could do with her voice, he was amazed and could belive what he had heard. So Judy and another young rising star at the time, named Deanna Durbin, had to compete against each other for the spot on MGM. Mostly everybody voted for Judy because she had a better and bigger voice, and she wasnt shy like Deanna. But for 3 years they couldnt find anything for her to do, then she stared in The Love Finds Andy Hardy. In 1939 is when she became a real star. she tries out for another MGM role. The studio droppped Sherley Temple fro the roll as Dorothy, and cast Judy for the role. Her first marriage was to DAvid Rose on July 28, 1941. During the marriage Judt became pregnent and was forced to have an abortion at the insistance og MGM; they thought it would ruin her good-girl image. This event would traumatize her for the rest of her life. This also caused her to Divorce DAvid on June 8,1944. One year later seh married again to the director of her movie called meet me in ST. Louis. Together They had a famouse daughter named Liza Minelli. In all of the 40's she was in over 18 movies! She was so over worked she would sometimes come in to work hours late or not show up at all. She would give it her all or nothing. this sometimes caused her to get fired because she wasnt doing her best. She did do her best anyways in the movies she wa sina nd everyone could tell. Later after making the movie Summer Stock, The studio notices Judy had agained some weight and that she also wanst as good as she used to be, so the studia fired her. Judy had two ther children, Joey and Lorna Luft. Soon after she had them she divorced her 3rd husband. Judy Garland Died in London, England on june 22 1969, she was only 47 years of age. The day she dies there was a tornado is Kansas. To me, i think Judy Garland and Frances Ethel Gumm, was the best actress, singer, and sensation of pictures to ever walk the earths siol. Also, 9 years after she dies, they named a rose after her, it was yellow with red tips. (those were her favorite colors.) <33333333>

The Life of Judy Garland

Yes, she was talented, she had a beautiful voice and a great style. but her real genius was how she attracted and inspired so many other talented people who then lifted her up. Expectional people loved Judy Garland and expectionally. Many of the twentienth centurys greatest writers, directors, producers, composers and performers as well as countless other stage and screen struck professionals contributed passionately to Judy Garland incomparable life. It was not just one woman singing "Over the Rainbow" It was an amalgamatory of the most inspired talent on earth. That is the most important person in my life, that i admire Ms. Judy Garland, yes she had many combacks and died of one of them, but she'll always be in my heart, and so this is the Judy we remeber, singing "Over the Rainbow". This is the Judy we love rising from her troubles and on her way to a happier and better place. "A note that is really a note Makes the song the song writer wrote Seem sublime when it comes from the throat of Judy Garland. And how we loved watching her grow When she had Mickey Rooney in tow, And she'd say "We could put on a show!" That's Judy Garland. She sang on a trolley and danced with Astaire. And Judy and Gene made a helluva pair. But then she topped it, I swear, When she played a girl named Esther Who turned into Vicki Lester. And then there's a night I recall When she proved she was queen of them all, And the roof shook at Carniege Hall. And noboy will Compare to the thrill Of Judy Garland. For years, there's a debt that i owed To the girl from the Yellow Brick Road Who could make my emotions explode. So, thanks to the gods above For letting me fall in love With Judy Garland"

Natalie Wood's Biography

Natalie Wood, born Natalia Zakharenko on July 20, 1938 in San Francisco, Calif., starred in multiple films as a child and received her big break in the entertainment industry in 1947s “Miracle on 24th Street” when she became an instant child movie star at the age of four. Wood played Susan Walker and is still remembered today as the little girl who doubted Santa Claus in the classic Christmas film.Wood was unique in the fact that despite being a successful actress as a young child, she was still able to make an easy transition through adolescence without ever being out of work. Before the public knew it, Wood had blossomed from a pigtail-wearing kindergartener to a beautiful teenager capable of playing the love interest of many. She appeared in 18 films as a child. Her sister, Lana Wood, was also an actress and most notably a Bond girl. The beautiful screen legend retained her star status as a teenager and made a smooth transition to grown-up roles, thanks to films such as 1955s “Rebel Without a Cause,” in which she starred alongside James Dean. As Jim Stark and Judy, the on-screen couple personified the feelings of the restless mid-50s American youth, and the classic film truly became a movie for all time. As an on-screen film companion of James Dean and an off-screen companion of the incomparable Elvis Presley, Wood was admired and envied by many young girls of the day for both her relationships and her glamour. Her next film, The Searchers(1956), helped Wood to remain her superstar status as a teen actress as she starred alongside cowboy legend John Wayne. The Searchers was an epic Western film which told the story of Ethan Edwards, a bitter, middle-aged loner and Civil War veteran who spends many of his years “searching” for his abducted niece. The film turned out to be very influential in the movie world, inspiring other Western films, science fiction movies and even hollywood films throughout the years. The acting career of Wood continued to blossom, as she was adept at both comedy and serious drama. Some of her most well-known parts include her roles as Maria in the 1961 classic musical “West Side Story” and as Deanie in the critically acclaimed 1961 film “Splendor in the Grass.” Other significant films in which Wood starred include “Gypsy” (1962) and “Love With the Proper Stranger” (1963). After filming "This Property is Condemned" (1966), she stayed away from films for the following three years. She finally returned to acting to play the role of Carol Sanders in "Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice"(1969). Following that film, she made few appearances on television, but spent most of her time with her family and friends. Her only major role until 1980 was in the television mini-series "From Here to Eternity." Wood began filming for a film called "Brainstorm" in 1981, though the film was not released in 1983 and she unfortunately, did not live to see final version of the movie. The film was a science-fiction movie about a deranged husband and wife team who co-invent a special computer device which allows sensations and higher brain functions to be scanned directly from the brain. Wood was sailing off of Santa Catalina Island with her husband Robert Wagner and their friend, Christopher Walken, when she disappeared one evening, supposedly while trying to get into a dinghy. Wood’s body washed ashore the next morning and the cause of death which cut her successful and family-oriented life short was determined as drowning.

The Life of Natalie Wood

Natalie Wood was a remarkable beauty who appeared in over 56 movies for the silver screen and television and was nominated for numerous Oscars throughout her career. What is improtant, is to remember Natalie's life, and the characters she created on-screen-- the poigant Austrian waif in "Tomorrow is Forever"..... precocious Susan in "Miracle on 34rd Street"..... tender, luminous Maria in "Westside Story".... Judy, the senstive teenager in "Rebel without a Cause"..... brave plucky Angie in "Love with the Proper Stranger"..... vulnerable Deanie in "Splendor in the Grass". The gifts Natalie gave her fans at the expense of her own identity. "Natalie Wood's" her actress alter ego, lives on in movies. What has been lost is Natasha. "Ootra Vechereem Moodreunaya" as Natalie said at the end of her eulogy for her Fahd. "Now we feel so sad about losing you, as one sometimes feels sad at nightfall. But we will have our morning when our spirits will lift, our sadness will lighten and we will realize we havent really lost you, because your uniqueness to us all will always live in our hearts." "Spakoynee noch, Natasha!" "Feel the gladness of the May! What though the radiance which was once so bright Be now forever taken from my sight, Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind"
